73/hr DOQ The purpose of the position is to assist the Cultural and Special Events Manager with planning, organizing, scheduling, coordination and publicizing performing arts programs and special events for the City.
Position handles the logistical setup, event operations and post tear down are handled with staff, vendors and the event host.
Essential Duties:
Provides Customer Service with the general public and event partners pertaining to promotions and events.
Helps schedule rental of City buildings and park facilities.
Assists with developing and distributing press releases, brochures, flyers, publications, newsletters, public service announcements for city events.
Will provide management during scheduled events to insure the proper and effective execution of the event requirements and the satisfaction of the user.
Manage the facility operation and provide managerial oversight and technical support during productions and special events.
Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for staff, and a safe, aesthetically pleasing, and efficient operational environment for auditorium patrons.
Recruit volunteer organizations and volunteers to help execute the operations of special events for the City and entertainment in the community building.
Recruit and train volunteers to support cultural art programs.
Ability to critique events and make improvements where needed or indicated.
Walk through and training of staff roles and expectations for special events and activities at the community building.
Will provide supervision during all events to insure the proper and effective execution of the event requirements and the satisfaction of the user.
Coordinate complex projects and meet deadlines.
Assist with daily operations and coordination of events in the Mount Dora Community Building.
Supervise all staff at the facilities and technical support during productions and special events.
Create, staff and manage outdoor recreational programs to include kayaking, archery and fishing activities.
Build other programming needs based on the needs of the community.
Assist in purchasing equipment, materials, food & beverage etc.
for events and recreational programs.
Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for staff, and a safe, aesthetically pleasing, and efficient operational environment for auditorium patrons.
Performs related work as directed.
Qualifications High School diploma or GED.
Two (2) years' experience in the special events and/or recreational field.
(1) year supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
A valid Florida Driver's License is required.
Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period.
