Mid Florida Eye is searching for an energetic, patient focused, team oriented Insurance & Billing Representative for our multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in Mount Dora, Florida.

The Insurance and Billing Representative will be responsible for insurance payment posting and reconciliation as well as cross trained as a claims processor and in AR follow-up.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining patient financial records, which includes detailing patient treatments and diagnoses as well as updating payment and medical insurance information.
Sorting and distributing incoming EOB's, payments, and other financial documents to the appropriate teams in a timely manner.
Processing patient payments and refunds.
Identifying medical coding mistakes, typing errors, as well as patient underpayments or overpayments and rectifying them accordingly.
Creating suitable payment plans for patients based on their monthly income and financial obligations.
Communicating with medical insurance providers to verify whether patient treatments will be covered.
Answering patients' questions regarding unsettled medical bills, reimbursements, and billing discrepancies.
Contacting patients through email, written correspondence, or telephone to inform them of overdue balances.
Contacting collection agencies or attorneys to initiate the payment collection process in cases of delinquent accounts.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma.
Must have the ability to establish confidence and trust with patients.
Must have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure or stress.
Have the ability to provide excellent customer service, communication, telephone and grammar skills.
Must have an empathetic and compassionate manner.
Prefer one or more years experience working in a medical position where patient contact was required.
Knowledge of insurance plans is helpful.
Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
Ability to perform as part of a team as well as work independently.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
